Partners in Architecture

In the design, development, and realization of building projects, public and private building development leaders have turned to WDG Architects for 17 years because they want to work with architects who are responsive and reachable, who listen but lead, who are at the top of the industry with technology and innovation. It takes a team to make exceptional places meaningful, artful, functional, resilient, and enjoyable parts of people’s lives. Our clients head up the team, and we add specialists, engineers, user representatives, building officials, and the community when appropriate. We are Partners in Architecture.

Our Mission is to be the architect of choice in our market area/region by providing unexpected customer value, being innovative in all aspects of our business and service, and being involved in and relevant to the community.

Public and Higher Education

Dona Ana Community College East Mesa Campus Student Resources Building, Las Cruces, NM

WDG Architects has provided outstanding education facility design to institutions in southern New Mexico for 16 years. Our clients include New Mexico State University, Western New Mexico University, Dona Ana Community College, Las Cruces Public Schools, and Cobre Consolidated School District with nearly 200 contracts for education projects.

We understand the documentation requirements, procurement processes, and accountability required for the responsible management of public building funds.

Health Care and Medical Design

Memorial Urgent Care, Las Cruces, NM

One of the strongest, fast-growing areas of design and construction for WDG Architects has been in health care facility design. We have been honored to design medical office buildings, urgent care facilities, wound care facilities, pharmacies and specialty practice clinics throughout southern New Mexico.

WDG Architects is also partnering with other design specialists for larger health care facilities. Our team has the capacity and expertise to provide research and design, documentation, and construction management services for hospitals, specialty care clinics, emergency rooms, research labs, and teaching hospitals.

Hospitality Design

HOPS Dining Room, Alexandria, VA

The hospitality industry is booming particularly in restaurant and hotel development. WDG Architects has experience designing restaurants, both custom venues and franchise or prototype designs. Recent projects include a new multiple restaurant venue concept in Las Cruces, NM, a hip urban bistro in Albuquerque, NM, and a boutique hotel in Ruidoso, NM.

WDG Architects has also designed large institutional food service kitchens for Dona Ana Community College, kitchens for the Las Cruces Public Schools, educational food service and production facilities for New Mexico State University, and commercial wholesale food production facilities.

Government Facilities

City of Las Cruces Public Safety Complex, Las Cruces, NM

The design of municipal, county, and state government facilities requires technical knowledge and expert execution. The design expertise of WDG Architects’ staff includes government offices, fire stations, police stations, data management facilities, and 911 dispatch centers. Our New Mexico government clients include the cities of Las Cruces, Lovington, Artesia, Sunland Park, and Truth or Consequences; Dona Ana County, Otero County; and the State of New Mexico.

We understand the documentation requirements, procurement processes, and accountability required for the responsible management of public building funds.

Sports and Recreation Facilities

Sports and recreation facility design is very different from building design. Many of the occupied spaces we design are outside and the related buildings mainly include grandstands, shade structures, concessions, and restrooms. The WDG Architects’ staff have worked with New Mexico State University, Las Cruces Public Schools, the City of Las Cruces, NM, and private clients for baseball fields, football and soccer fields, swimming pools, martial arts training facilities, and basketball and volleyball courts.

Residential/Multifamily Housing

Western New Mexico University Mustang Village, Student Apartments, Silver City, NM

Most of the residential design experience for WDG Architects is in multifamily housing including university student housing, both dormitories and apartment or suite-style living, and private apartments. However, Principals David Clarke and Richard Haas also have extensive single-family custom residential design experience.

Campus living facilities required current knowledge of housing trends to assist universities with student retention and recruitment. Private apartment and rental housing are always in search of the balance between cost and unique amenities to set the facilities apart from the rest. WDG Architects continually updates staff knowledge of trends and the economics of housing design.
