March 28, 2018 (Las Cruces, NM) – Over two years in the making, the Rio Grande Medical Group – Mountain View Regional Medical Center partnership celebrated the ground breaking for the new Children’s Wellness Center at 4401 E. Lohman Ave. in Las Cruces.
The 25,700 s.f. 2-story building was designed by WDG Architects. David Clarke, President of the firm said, “From the first day, our client asked that the building be the Best in Las Cruces.” The unique building will sit between the Rio Grande Medical Group building and the Rehabilitation Hospital. “The entire WDG team participated in the design of the building which takes advantage of spectacular mountain views yet protects large areas of glass with sun shading devices.” Clarke said.
The ground floor includes an urgent care facility for all ages, a walk-in x-ray and lab clinic, and a pediatrics clinic staffed by the Mountain View Regional Medical Center team, which will offer extended hours. Upstairs is all pediatrics staffed by the Rio Grande Medical Group team.
WDG Architects Design Team: David Clarke, Principal-in-Charge; Richard Haas, Design Principal; Wendy Clarke, Interior Designer; Michael Bluth, BIM Manager/Project Manager; with ongoing support from Gabe Lucero, Joseph Fuemmeler, and Ruben Contreras.
The rest of the design team includes Pillar Engineering (Civil), Stubbs Engineering (Structural), and Raxis Engineering (MEP). The contractor is Jaynes Corporation. Financing was provided by Century Bank. The team was well represented at the ground breaking.
